Embracing Our Destiny
Destiny is an interesting concept. Some believe we have a predetermined destiny, and others believe we have free will, and yet a third group believes we have a predetermined destiny that our free will will lead us to. Philosophical ideas and thoughts like this are more than my brain can handle. I am a simple person, with simple thoughts, who enjoys a simple life.
I am honestly not sure what I believe when it comes to destiny. The romantic in me likes the idea that we each have a predetermined destiny, we just need to open ourselves to the journey. But the logical person in me suspects everything is driven by choice. The question then becomes, how to we become the masters of our destiny?
Mastering our Destiny
The first step is to determine what kind of life we want. Do we want a life of successful careers, accumulating wealth, or a life of experiences and volunteering? There is no right answer here, no help I can give. You see, quite simply, we must know what our values are, and understand how our values play into our decision making.
When we know what is important to us, what we value then our values define our decisions. It’s that simple. For example, I am a great businesswoman until it comes to setting a price. I want to give my services away because I know how much they are needed. I love to volunteer, and often joke that if I could make a living volunteering, I would gladly do that. I believe in giving a voice to the voiceless, especially animals and the elderly. I also believe every life has value and a purpose. These defining core values have driven me and helped me define my career. Because I am open to them, they influence my thoughts, actions and responses.
As we become more in touch with our values, and define what kind of life we want, we emanate an energy which in line with our values and wants creates and introduces us to opportunities in line with our beliefs. When we are positive, we put out positive energy, see different opportunities, and attract positive energy. The same can be said when we are negative. When we choose to see the possibilities in life opportunities we never dreamed of are presented.
Mastering our destiny is as simple as defining our values, choosing the kind of life we want, and then throwing ourselves fully into our decisions. While I love plans, I also love to take every opportunity that is presented to me. I have regretted a few, but loved most of them and because of this desire, to try new things, to push myself, to be open to new possibilities, I have been able to do more, have an incredible career, and start multiple businesses. My openness to the journey, my desire to learn as much as I can from each experience, has created an incredibly rich set of skills and experiences.
Embracing our destiny
Embracing our destiny, mastering our fate is not as simple as I have made it sound. You see, once you define your values and determine what kind of life you want, you still have to be confident enough to embrace your decisions. I cannot tell you the number of people I know or have watched define their values and lifestyle, only to waiver at the first challenge, or be fickle and decide they like the lifestyle of their friend more and change.
To fully embrace our destiny, we are stating very loudly and proudly that we are 100% comfortable with who we are and what we want. We must be true to ourselves, and our authenticity must be reflected in our choices. Only then can we fully embrace our destiny.
Once we Embrace our Destiny
Once we embrace our destiny, fate will take hold and our journey will take off. Understanding that once we open ourselves to the life we choose, the universe provides opportunities in line with the energy we put out. Our brains, our ability to be positive in bad situations, to get back up after a fall, determine our journey and the opportunities we are presented with.
As a dear friend always reminds me, if we want good outcomes, we must put positive things into our brains.
Sincerely,
Sara O
